Responsible for roughly three decades of guttural glory, George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher has become known worldwide for the brutal and forceful growl he employs, as well as his unceasing, on-stage neck spin. After providing vocals for the last 11 Cannibal Corpse albums-including their most recent and critically acclaimed Violence Unimagined-touring the globe, and contributing his growl to many other projects, Fisher has cemented a colossal impact on the pillars of death metal that will be honored and celebrated forever.

As many projects as he’s been involved in, 2022 sees Fisher continuing his killing spree with his latest eponymous project, Corpsegrinder.

The project unites co-producer Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed, Jasta), drummer/co-producer Nick Bellmore (Dee Snider, Kings And Liars), and guitarist/bassist Charlie Bellmore (Dee Snider, Kings And Liars), who managed to create ten punishing songs strictly suited for Fisher’s bludgeoning roar. Those songs make up the self-titled debut Corpsegrinder, the first release to come out on Jasta’s Perseverance Music Group.

The self-titled effort shifts slightly from the all-out, death metal onslaught we’re used to hearing from Fisher. Instead, elements of thrash and hardcore come to the forefront of Corpsegrinder’s sound, producing blood-pumping beatdowns and spine-splitting grooves.

Pulling inspiration from bands like Morbid Angel, Slayer, and Hatebreed, the Bellmore brothers work together to create songs that are colossally heavy and merciless. Tracks like the lead single “Acid Vat” (feat. Erik Rutan), as well as “Crimson Proof” and “Master of the Longest Night” merge Slayer-esque riffs with Biohazard-inspired breakdowns to deliver one hard, audible ass beating. Vocally, Fisher unleashes a world of bloodshed and carnage, obliterating every filthy soul in his path.

“On Wings of Carnage” exposes the album’s infernal underbelly, as (Charlie) Bellmore channels his inner Azagthoth to conjure up one unholy introductory riff. Fisher operates well within his wheelhouse as this track, “Vaguely Human,” and “All Souls Get Torn,” provoke the album’s more death-induced distinctions.

While infectious riffs fire off in the towering heavyweight “Death Is The Only Key,” Fisher becomes unhinged and more personal sounding than ever in the malicious “Bottom Dweller.”

Fisher discovers the perfect way to make these lyrics fit the groove of each song-and believe me, Corpsegrinder is fucking groovy. The combination of hardcore-inspired, blunt force breakdowns and dominating vocals, make for some of the frontman’s hardest hitting work to date.

Corpsegrinder unleashes a bloodthirsty rage, increasing his kill count throughout the course of the unforgiving, self-titled achievement. Fisher’s unmistakable, fire-breathing roar returns more pissed off and voracious than ever. No soul will survive. Death is imminent.
